The Benefits of Having a Mentor

The ability to have access to someone else’s knowledge, expertise, and guidance is one of the biggest gifts someone can give to you.

Having a mentor in your life gives you the ability to leverage time. Regardless of the area in your life, if you want to improve, chances are that someone has succeeded in that area before you.

Success Leaves Clues

If you have your mindset out to accomplish something, there is no reason to reinvent the wheel. Knowledge is everywhere, especially in the current time.

There are so many books, courses, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc. that are available to you. Some people spend their whole lives in research and write books on what they found, and you have access to it.

Finding Your Mentor

Because success leaves clues, you have the ability to model success.

For example, if you want to become physically fit, you would model someone that has already accomplished becoming fit themselves and developed the knowledge and ability to help others do the same.

When finding your mentor, you need to gain clarity on what you want to accomplish. Unless you are inventing something new, chances are you want to accomplish something that has already been done before (mastering fitness, finances, leveling up at work, relationships, grief, etc).

When you know what area you want to improve in, find someone that is doing what you want to do in that area and ask for their help.

Accountability

When you find your mentor, you have access to their expertise and know-how. Because they have accomplished what you set out to do, they know how to guide you.

Your mentor will hold you accountable and know how to push you to the next step of achieving your goal. What good is a team without a coach? Having a mentor will help you excel in a way that you can’t do by yourself.

Encouragement

Your mentor understands you because they have been where you are. Having this level of understanding helps the mentor know what to say or do to encourage you when you are feeling low.

It is so beneficial to have someone in your corner that believes in you. Mentors can see the potential inside of you and help bring greatness to the surface.

Should I Pay For a Mentor?

If you had the ability to buy back your time, would you do it?

Having a mentor in your life helps you get to where you want to go quickly and more efficiently. There are so many different coaches and people out in the world that have the ability to help you get what you want.

Access to knowledge and systems for success are valuable, and life is to short to waste trying to figure it out by yourself.

Stepping in Courage

It takes courage to ask for help. Being vulnerable is scary and beautiful at the same time. Stepping out in courage involves taking a risk, but if you are unwilling, you will not reap the reward.
