Throughout your day-to-day, you are consistently making choices. Some choices are on a subconscious level, due to your daily habits, increasing autopilot behavior, while other choices are made with great consideration.
While some decisions are difficult to make, not making those choices can be more devastating than you think.
Indecision Leads to Chaos
If you are continuing life with many choices purposefully ignored, it will only do one thing… create chaos. You cannot think clearly and intelligently if you are walking around in constant indecision.
Imagine a typical day in a life of indecision:
You wake up to your alarm going off. Should you wake up? Should you go back to sleep? Oh, you do not know…. maybe you hit snooze for a few more minutes so that when you wake up the second time you may then decide.
Finally you arise and you have no idea what to wear. You change clothes several times, and finally pick the first outfit you tried on thirty minutes ago.
Now breakfast. Should you eat breakfast this morning or fast? Uh, you look down and are dissatisfied with the way your pants are fitting on your body. So you eat a couple of blueberries and go change your outfit again.
As you are finishing your morning routine, your mind starts to wonder…”I wonder if that guy at the office likes me”, “maybe I should start that diet”, “uh what am I doing with my life”, “this really is not the career I want”, “oh I forgot to pay that bill, crap I really don’t have extra money for that right now”, ” oh my God Sally was such a bitch at that party last night”, “and the holidays are coming up and the last thing I want is to deal with is my family asking how I am doing”,” oh crap, I am going to be late….HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?”.
THIS IS CHAOTIC BEHAVIOR!!
Learning how to make decisions will not only save you time, it will lower stress levels, and clear up thinking space for you.
The reason so many people have a hard time making decisions is because they think you have to make the ultimate decision.
You do not have to decide what you are going to do for the rest of your life right this very second, but if you are unhappy with your career make a decision to learn a new skill so that you can move to a different area of work.
If you are unhappy with your body, make a decision to cut out sweets this week. If you are upset with Sally, make a decision to speak to her or not speak to her again.
The point is, it does not matter what you decide… AS LONG AS YOU START DECIDING SOMETHING.
Indecision is Poisonous
You are wasting time by being in a constant state of indecision. Time is the most valuable thing you have…you cannot get it back.
You also cannot think clearly if you are in indecision. Your brain will be foggy and convoluted… and how can you make intelligent choices like that?
It is important for your well being to make choices for yourself. Find some clarity on the things you want in your life and start making choices that are in alignment with that.
You are in the driver’s seat of your life, and all of your choices so far have led you to this present moment. You taking responsibility for your life and making the choices to continue forward to what you want is powerful.
If you do not make the choices, you are leaving life to chance and you will be not operating as your most intelligent self.
It is time to make some decisions! What are you pushing to the wayside? What are you purposefully ignoring? What can you decide right now that would free up some things for you?
